Thank you very much for your kind and helpful advice. The SB is probably the best of the Zero 100's with less rumble and more stable speed compared to the idler models so well worth tryint to save. If it has issues it may be hard to fix and it´s tough if you spent a lot of work on the automatics to discover that it wont track. This is the cool but most vulnerable part on a Zero. And then get the chassi out and have a look under the hood.Īnother suggestion is to get a belt and try to run it in manual just to see how the tonearm works. While waiting for more help to arrive, I suggest you download the service manual available in the database section and do a little readup. Not sure if he does everything by the book but you get a feel for how things work or not on a Zero (he shows an idler model, not belt drive like yours so some things will differ) I also found this fellows videos helpful. I freed it of with heat, gleaned and relubed sparingly. Not sure if that can cause your issue but may be worth a check. It´s a pivoting part under the platter that jams up caused by hardened grease. The issue I had on my zero was a stuck shutoff-mechanism. Unfortunately I do not recognize your problem but other members will probably chip in. Then usually best not relubed or very sparingly. Stuck moving parts can be freed up and cleaned using ispopropanol and in some cases heat from a soldering iron. So probably nothing broken under the hood.

The mechanics on these things are mostly sturdy metal and don´t break unless you force something that is stuck. Old Garrards are known to jam up due to hardened grease in a lot of places and your issue can most likely be caused by the infamous "Garrard glue". Nice freebie! You should defenitely hang on to it and try to get it running.
